Douglas A. Collins Confirmed as Secretary of Veterans Affairs

This afternoon, the Senate confirmed President Donald Trump’s pick to head the Department of Veterans Affairs. Former Georgia Representative Doug Collins, President Trump’s tenth confirmed nominee, passed through the chamber with a 77-23 vote.

Collins enjoyed a significant amount of Democratic support in his bid for VA Secretary. Ranking Member of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee Richard Blumenthal commented, “Veterans and [the] VA need a leader who puts veterans at the forefront, particularly in the face of pressure to scale back, cut costs, and pursue harmful policies. Doug Collins has committed to me he will be this forceful advocate.”
