If confirmed, he would be the first non-physician to oversee the Veterans Health Administration (VHA).

John Bartrum is a senior advisor at the Department of Veterans Affairs and a retired Major General in the U.S. Air Force with over 40 years of combined active and reserve service. A combat veteran, he currently serves as the Mobilization Assistant to the Air Force Surgeon General, supporting the medical readiness of both Air and Space Forces.
